Wound Debridement

Debridement is a procedure that removes dead / diseased tissue in the wound which allows for promotion of healing, decreasing risk of infection, and provide a healthy environment for the wound to heal. This is an essential part of wound care. After debridement, special dressings or medications will be applied to the wound to promote healing. In addition, your doctor may prescribe special footgear, braces or use of crutches or a wheelchair to take pressure off the wound and allow it to heal.
